Best Bite - Bowl Time

Bowl Time is a good time. If you had told me a few years ago that my favorite smoothie place would be someone's house I might have shot you a strange look.

But, here we are. It's 2023 and I'm texting in an order for a Hype Smoothie* and Gold Bowl**. Not ordering through some fancy app or calling in to a restaurant - texting. After sending that in and giving them my pickup time I get a fun little thumbs up on the text. Sometimes I excitedly yell out "Order accepted! yay!", other times I keep my excitement to myself. Then the order is brought to my car where I pay and finally get my hands on the goods.

*Hype Smoothie: espresso / banana / peanut butter / dates / cacao nibs

**Gold Bowl: banana / almond butter / honey / almond milk / golden milk (turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, cardamom)

Bowl Time is the brainchild of Oliver Pegg who partnered up with his sister, Eleanor on this venture. In 2020 Oliver had started lifting weights, running, and becoming more intentional with his nutrition. One way he did this was by making big smoothie bowls every night before bed. He would even clap and yell "IT'S BOWL TIME!" while heading downstairs after his workouts. Once he decided to share his creation with friends and family it was clear others needed this in their lives.

When they opened in 2022 they went a more unconventional route - serving these from their house. Wanting to avoid a loan and immediate overhead, running it from their home was the perfect decision. The community has fully embraced Bowl Time and blew away all expectations Oliver had. There are no signs of that community support slowing down.

What does the future hold for Bowl Time? Oliver hopes to open a small shop that offers the bowls and smoothies but adds an experience and general vibe to the mix.

"We have plenty of really fun and exciting ideas for the aesthetic of a future shop and how we would use it to impact the community the best way we know how…by offering a place where people can gather, converse, and clap loud while shouting “ITS BOWL TIME”.

If you haven't tried them, you are officially encouraged to do so. Check out their website or simply take a look at their instagram to see all the yummy offerings. We promise it's worth it.
