The new facility had it's official ribbon cutting event on July 28th at their new location, 1801 S Knoxville Ave. Their purpose is to increase community awareness and participation of proper recycling practices at the drop-off center. "By reducing contamination and increasing material recovery, we can support a more efficient and sustainable recycling system." Why Recycling Matters
Mass production of products creates tons of waste each year. This causes harm in communities by affecting health, lowering property values, and reducing the land's usefulness and beauty. By using what we already have, we can reduce the need to use new resources like trees, minerals, and water. Recycling keeps waste from entering landfills, groundwater or from being burned, which lowers greenhouse emissions.
What You Can Do
Separate waste into categories to reduce contamination rates
Purchase products with recycled content
Use refillable water bottles
Purchase in bulk when possible
Donate old electronics to schools
Use rechargeable batteries
Learn to compost at home
Consider reusing/repurposing items before buying new ones.
